Arundel, West Sussex
Hi all!
Apologies it has been a few weeks since my last post, but I am going to be sharing lots of fantastic nature pics with you today to make up for it. This post is dedicated to Arundel, Sussex, which we visited for the first time in June this year. Arundel is around 55 miles from central London and perhaps most famous for its huge medieval castle, however the beauty of the surrounding countryside should not be underestimated.

Arundel lies within the South Downs - a vast national park where we have enjoyed many day trips and weekend getaways. It is an impressively well conserved market town, steeped in a history that can truly be felt when walking its quaint, hilly streets. The River Arun runs to the East of the town and can easily be reached by foot from the high street.

Nature lovers, do not miss the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, where you can enjoy bird watching and may even be lucky enough to spot water voles, bats and several remarkable species of butterfly. Do follow the marked paths and take care on permissive paths to avoid unsettling the local critters - everything is well signposted.

For keen walkers, you can follow the Wetlands Trust around to Arundel Park and the Arun Valley. These trails can be found on the Arundel visitors website, though once in the open space it's easy to follow your nose! The walks are fairly hilly in parts but the views go on for miles and are worth every step of the climb. To avoid the steeper hills stick closer to the entrances of the park itself and enjoy the towering view of Arundel castle, which follows you almost every route you can take. You can't get bored in over 1200 acres of open downland, definitely not one to miss for all of you who love the outdoors!
